Golfing in Johannesburg vs Jakarta

Well, I am very lucky to have a chance to play 2 (two) rounds golf in Johannesburg during our (me and my wife) short holiday to that wonderful city in South Africa at March 12-21, 2017. This is my notes about the golfing experience. To make it more interesting, I'll compare it with Jakarta (to certain extend, as the representative of Indonesia).  The two courses I played are: Randpark Golf Club (Bushwillow course). Their website:  http://www.randpark.co.za Royal Johannesburg Kensington Golf Club (east course). Their website: http://www.royaljk.za.com DISCLAIMER I will provide a conclusion and the end of each comparison, i.e. which city is better than the other.  The comparison and conclusion are qualitative and based on my personal view. It doesn't intended to be a scientific valuation.  RESERVATION As a tourist and a first time visitor, I do a lot of information inquiry through e-mail to make sure I have sufficient information, include the possibility to play one ball. (Singapore) Golf Equipment Hunt

One thing in common for all golfers is that they always look for golf related matters wherever they go. Well....including me :) This is about satisfying that need in Singapore. In fact, it is quiet surprising to know that -regardless the size of the country- Singapore has a serious interest in golf. They have been hosting LPGA Tour for years and they also have a lot of offering for golfers. Far East Shopping Center -to my knowledge- is a place in Singapore with the most complete golf related stuffs offering. Although it is less complete compare to Thaniya Plaza Bangkok ( Click here  to see my note on Thaniya Plaza), you'll find yourself satisfied with they have. The place is located at Orchard Road... aha......now this would be an irresistible temptation to go there. It is next to Hilton Hotel, across Shaw House, few minutes walk from ION Orchard. Click here to see the location of Far East Shopping Center This shopping center is relatively small & old, but still c

(Bangkok) Seven Spoons Bar & Restaurant

First of all, thanks to Hanna and Jenice who arrange a lovely and nice dinner on Aug 22, 2014. It will always fun to remember the reaction of the taxi driver who felt like winning a prize as he successfully managed to drive us there (and it reconfirms how unknowledgable is the Bangkok's taxi driver. Hehehe). (Left to right) Jenice Laurence, Hanna Jung and us (Trigeany & Jopie) Seven Spoons located at 22-24 Chakkrapatipong Road, Bangkok. It is a stand alone bar & restaurant in a middle of shophouses. The sign is not outstanding and eyes catching. Therefore, make sure to open your eyes :) The design is natural, simple and tend to vintage. In fact, nothing's special. The bar is located at the left side (from the entrance) and the rest of it is the dining space. The story of this place is -certainly- not about the design, location or infrastructure. The story is in the food....the core of a restaurant. We order two kinds of salad for s

(Bangkok) Thaniya Plaza - The Golfers' Heaven

When I arrived at Bangkok on August 22, 2014, I never imagine I'll find this place. It started when I searched for relatively cheap golf shoes. I browsed the internet and the name THANIYA PLAZA  popped up. Following up the finding, we (me and my wife) decided to visit that plaza. It is located at 52 Silom Road, Bangkok. Although the address is clear, in most cases (from my experience), we can't communicate with taxi driver in English. Therefore, the easiest way to go to there is by sky train (BTS). Here's the direction using BTS: The place is connected to Sala Daeng station (Silom Line) . From BTS Sukhumvit Line, change train at Siam (Cen) station. Take Bang Wa destination (Sala Daeng is the second stop). If you are using MRT, follow below steps: Stop at Sukhumvit station. It is an interchange station with BTS Sukhumvit Line (known as Asok Station by BTS). Exit the MRT station and heading to the BTS (Asok Station). Take Mo Chit Line and stop at Siam (Cen) stati

Lombok: another paradise in Indonesia

In early December 2013, I had a golden opportunity to arrange a sales trip to Lombok for approximately 100 top business performers and leaders of the bank I worked for. It turned out that the journey was more than just a trip. It was a discovery of a new paradise in Indonesia for me. It had expanded my view and perspective on the richness of Indonesia and re-enhanced my believe that tourism should be one of Indonesia's economic growth drivers. Generally, Lombok offers relatively similar experiences with Bali (the most famous tourism destination in Indonesia). Majority of the activities are around sun & sea, hang out at night and breathtaking scenery. The focal point of the acitivities is located in Senggigi area. Many 4-5 stars hotels have their presence there, such as Sheraton and Novotel. However, to date, Lombok is much less crowded than Bali. Therefore, it is a perfect place to uplift the life tension, let the heart takeover the mind, pour it into the uniqueness of nature
